Job Purpose and Impact
The Civil/Mechanical Technologist will implement the Mechanical Integrity strategy and culture that builds on the foundational elements of the corporate Structural Steel & Concrete Integrity model and that focuses on enhancing the interaction between site and regional functions (Mechanical Integrity, Project Engineers and Operations). This role is primarily responsible for providing integrity analysis & inspection to enable other functional areas to focus on opportunities and critical works
Key Elements Of The Position Purpose Include
- Review drawings and updates as per as built in the filed.
- Perform visual inspection on steel structures, concrete piles/pedestals, industrial builds, and stationary & lifting equipment (conveyors, Bucket Elevators, galleries, & Monorails) and follow up on deficiencies.
- Prepare inspection reports for clientele and stakeholders
Key Accountabilities
- Perform qualitative inspection of structural Steel & Structural Concrete & buildings for brownfield projects.
- Modification of drawings when deviations are noted in the field.
- Support, develop and execute defined repair plans which includes developing and/or reviewing technical packages, review of labor and equipment required for repairs.
- Perform inspection of Structural Steel & Concrete works at critical stages of a project.
- Review drawings, inspections test plans, and compile comprehensive inspection reports for clientele.
- Identify predictive tool application and understand all tools being applied in the plants, and implement, monitor and guide management of change processes according to global and local standards.
- Participate in incident or failure investigation as required.
- Facilitate interactions with project sponsors and stakeholders to ensure alignment of project objectives.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
-
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/ Structural Engineering or equivalent experience.
- CWB level welding Inspector 1
- Working knowledge of Navisworks, Autodesk Revit, STAAD Pro or other Structural Design software.
- Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in relevant inspection areas.
- Other minimum qualifications may apply.
- Working knowledge of national codes and regulations related to equipment.
- Strong knowledge of NDE technologies (UT, RT, MPI, DPT).
- Fluent in English.
- Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in an Structural engineering /Mechanical
- Professional Designation and in good standing with Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientist
- Knowledge of Recognized and Generally Accepted Good Engineering Practices (RAGAGEPS) like ASME, AWS, NACE, NBIC, ASME, API, PED, EN-codes
