Job Purpose and Impact
The Structural Engineer EIT will implement the Mechanical Integrity strategy and culture that builds on the foundational elements of the corporate Structural Steel & Concrete Integrity model and that focuses on enhancing the interaction between site and regional functions (Mechanical Integrity, Project Engineers and Operations). This role is primarily responsible for providing integrity analysis & inspection to enable other functional areas to focus on opportunities and critical works.
Key Elements Of The Position Purpose Include:
- Systematic development of the inspection management for Structural Steel & Concrete
- Development of repairs proposals for Structural Steel and Concrete.
- Develop test and inspection plans for failed/new steel structures, concrete piles/pedestals, industrial builds, and stationary & lifting equipment (conveyors, Bucket Elevators, galleries, & Monorails) and follow up on deficiencies.
- Develops scope for multiyear programs to proactively address upgrading programs.
Key Accountabilities
- Perform qualitative inspection of structural Steel & Structural Concrete & buildings for brownfield projects.
- Mentor civil and/or mechanical technologists in the department.
- Support, develop and execute defined repair plans which include developing and/or reviewing technical packages, review of labour and equipment required for repairs
- Perform inspection of Structural Steel & Concrete works at critical stages of a project.
- Review drawings, inspections test plans, and compile comprehensive inspection reports for clientele.
- Identify predictive tool application and understand all tools being applied in the plants, and implement, monitor and guide management of change processes according to global and local standards.
- Develops the strategy and enabling processes to implement and maintain the Synolo Asset Integrity Program.
- Ensures that the site is in compliance with Internal and External procedures and regulations related to all equipment part of the Asset Integrity Program (FRP, Structural Steel, Static Equipment).
- Participate in incident or failure investigation as required.
- Identify predictive tool application and understand all tools being applied in the plants, and implement, monitor and guide management of change processes according to industrial processes.
- Facilitate interactions with project sponsors and stakeholders to ensure alignment of project objectives.
- Independently handle complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating only the most complex issues to appropriate staff.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/ Structural Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Knowledge and experience using computer maintenance management systems.
- CWB level welding Inspector 1
- Working knowledge of Navisworks, Autodesk Revit, STAAD Pro or other Structural Design software
- Minimum of 2-4 years experience in relevant inspection areas
- Other minimum qualifications may apply
- Strong knowledge of national codes and regulations related to equipment
- Strong knowledge of NDE technologies (UT, RT, MPI, DPT)
- Fluent in English
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Structural engineering /Mechanical
- EIT Designation and in good standing with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists
- Strong knowledge of Recognized and Generally Accepted Good Engineering Practices (RAGAGEPS) like ASME, AWS, NACE, NBIC, ASME, API, PED, EN-codes
